Sanjaya Baru is an Indian economist, author, and former media advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He served as the spokesperson and media advisor to the Prime Minister from 2004 to 2008. Baru has also held various senior government positions, including Chief Editor of the Financial Express and Associate Editor of The Economic Times.
He is the author of the book "The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh", which provides insights into the workings of the Indian government during Singh's tenure as Prime Minister. Baru's book was later adapted into a Bollywood film of the same name.
